I’m a 13 year old girl and my dad and my mom are split up since I was like and I love going there on the weekend but he and his girlfriend are really strict on me about school and my mom has in and out boyfriends and my life has way more problems and I cried all day today. When I got home from school I did my homework and its around time to start working on the science fair project and I got my question so my mom said call your dad and tell him and I said don’t you remember what happened last time. He and his girlfriend screamed at me because I forgot to get my asignment notebook signed. me and my dad got into a huge fight over the phone and I told my mom and she said she didn’t feel like arguing with him so I said let’s just go to court and you can just get full custody of me I’m scared that he will try to get full custody of me. I’d rather live with my grandmother than both of them she’s the only one that dose listen to me and she needs my help. One time I was sitting on my open window thinking about jumping and my house is two story’s my mom doesn’t know I’m writing to you. I just need help so I can live with my grandma my life is way too stressful and I’m depressed. And my mom and her boyfriend are always fighting.

Hello and thank you for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline. We’re very sorry to hear that you are having issues with your mother. Do you think that it could be a possibility that your mom would let you stay with your grandma for a little bit if you asked her? It could be difficult, but if you want help regarding how to ask her, please don’t hesitate to contact us on our 24/7 hotline 1-800-RUNAWAY or on chat at Take care, NRS.

    Hey there,

It sounds like you have a really big decision to make. We can't exactly tell you what is best for you. It may be worth a try to mention to the courts where you would like to go. Only they can decide what will happen to you. That must be really difficult to have to consider those options and think about possible consequences. Hopefully things work out for you!

    All the best,

Can i choose to live with my grandparents

Can I chose to live with my grandparents. For the past three years, my parents have been going through a bad divorce case and I have no clue who to live with. They are always fighting and arguing. We have even had the police show up at our house. My dad says that if u choose my mom, I won't see him or my baby brother again, by the way, this only started because my dad got togetger with my mom's cousin. I would just live to live with my grandparents and continue to see both of my parents. The court case is tomorrow and I don't know what to say.
