Hi, and thank you for writing to us here at National Runaway Safeline (NRS). We understand it takes great courage to reach out, and we appreciate you sharing a little bit about what’s going on. It sounds understandable to be upset when your parents talk about how great your cousin is – that doesn’t sound supportive, loving or caring. No one deserves to have their parents talk about how much they hate their children or to be made to feel they are not enough. You have worth and value – everyone does.
We are here as support to help through this challenging time. If you'd like to talk in more detail about your situation or have any questions please call 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or chat with us (www.1800RUNAWAY.org) as we can best help by phone or chat. Best, NRS

I am 13 and my family treats me like junk
My family is very picky. I am an ok student (A's and B's) but its not enough for my family. I got a phone when I was 11 and got it taken away from me when I was 12 because I have "bad attitude". I mean, sure, i get a little mad when my parents talk about how amazing my younger cousin is with all A+ grades and how she is an amazing artist and im a trashy one, but they just don't understand. when i start getting better grades, by parents say my behavior is bad and visa versa. i always get frustrated when my parents talk about how much they hate me. but when i do get frustrated, they stop talking to me and im just sick of not being enough for them.Tags: None
