RE: how do i get help scj

    Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to National Runaway Safeline.

We’re really sorry to hear about everything that is happening at home with your mom. It sounds very scary. Since you mentioned the abuse, we should say that abuse of any kind is NEVER ok and it is NOT your fault. We’re here for you and want you to know that your safety is the most important thing. We want you to come up with a plan and we’re here to help you do that. Is there any place you’d be able to stay, like a friend or relative, where your mother wouldn’t be able to find you?

We’re so sorry to hear that you’ve attempted suicide. Your life matters, you’re an important human being and deserve to feel happy. It’s not always easy, life can be so overwhelming. We want you to know that if there is ever a time where it feels like too much, you could try calling the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK.

The stress caused by this tension with your mother is likely a cause for your struggles at school. You may be right about that. Do you think there’s someone at school you could talk to about these issues? Someone like a guidance counselor or a teacher might be able to help. Everyone falls behind for one reason or another, they might be able to help you with maintaining or improving your grades. They could also be a great help to you in this difficult time, it doesn’t hurt to have more trusted adults backing you in your corner.

Since you’ve mentioned abuse, we wanted to let you know that you have the right to report what is happening to you. If you want, you could check out www.childhelp.org for more information. Reporting abuse might not stop what is happening immediately, but it is a step in a direction that will begin the process to help you.

Thank you again for reaching out. Please consider calling here at 1-800-RUNAWAY(786-2929) so we can work together to keep you safe.

    Best of luck,

    NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
