  • My parents are constantly yelling and idk what to do

My mom and dad are constantly screaming at each other. My mom is always worked up and she takes it out on me.
They always blame things on me that aren't even relevant. They rarely let me out of the house and they don't trust me.
This may not sound like much of a problem, but I'm 13 and what they say actually hurts, i feel like they hate me and it makes me hate
    myself.

Re: My parents are constantly yelling and idk what to do

Thank you for reaching out to us at the National Runaway Safeline. It is a great first step to getting the help and information that you may need. We recognize that reaching out for help can be hard thing to do, so we are really glad you decided to reach out to us. We are here for you. We know family dynamics can be stressful but it sounds like you’re a brave and strong individual.
It sounds like your parents have been arguing and you are negatively effected. Things you may want to consider as options are family counseling to communicate with them about the hurt and strain you’re feeling because of their arguing. If you just wish to have a simple conversation about this, but don’t know how to bring it up sometimes having a mediator can help. We provide a conference call service which basically involves us calling a parent up, letting them know who we are and then proceed with a conversation where both sides of the call are heard and respected. If this is something that you are not comfortable with we could always help role play and If you were interested in any of the following, feel free to give us a call at 1800-RUNAWAY. You didn’t’ mention if the arguing ever got violent however, if you should ever feel like you are in immediate danger, please do not hesitate to call the police. We are really sorry to hear that you’ve been feeling down about yourself lately. Sometimes doing fun activities or submerging yourself in hobbies can ease the stress. Also, in situations like these surrounding yourself with people who care about you and listen, like friends can help. Just know you are a wonderful person and are never alone!

Thank you again for contacting us. If you wish to talk further about this situation, vent some feelings or get some outside help please don’t hesitate to give us a call.
We are here to listen and help 24/7.
    Best of luck!
