  • I am leaving home

Hello, my name is Blue. I am currently 12.5 years old. Now, aside from the fact I am very young, I am a very independent individual, and needs to leave the place I called home. I have the family everyone wished: a successful pair of parents. They do love me, however they don’t know how to. You may ask: Why don’t I talk about it to them? I did. Nothing ever works. This is my absolute last resort. But that doesn’t solve why I am leaving: They expect me to be every bit as successful as them, and even more than them. They gave inhuman requests, and physically, mentally, and/or verbally abuses me if I didn’t get to their requests. I live in constant fear and almost never get praised. Even if I am the best student in the grade. I can’t stay any longer without losing my mind. I need to leave. I am traveling to Pawnee to where my trusted person lives, and will crash at their place for a few days. However I do have another plan:
i want to find a children’s shelter/covenant home in or near the city. Help me on that if you are willing to give me your time

    Hey Blue,

Thanks so much for contacting us, it takes a lot of courage to reach out and share your story. It must be really hard to live in a home with so much tension and where you're expected to perform at an unobtainable/unrealistic level. Running away is a big decision and it can be very stressful to figure out what you want to do.

You mentioned that there was some abuse going on at home and this raises some concern for your safety and well-being. Absolutely no one deserves to be treated like that. If you are at risk of any danger or feeling unsafe, we encourage you to reach out to 911 or seek emergency assistance immediately. If any harm or abuse is happening at home, you have the right to report it. If you feel like this is an option you want to explore, you may find this website helpful: https://www.childhelp.org/child-abuse/. We can also help you to file a report if that’s the route you are considering. It may also be a good idea to explore options for staying with another family member or someone you trust as far as transferring custody.

If you’d like to go over what’s going on in depth, or if you’d like to explore other options (like youth shelters) that you may have available to you, please don’t hesitate to call us at 1-800-RUNAWAY. You can also chat us by clicking on the “CHAT” button on top of our homepage. We’re open 24/7 and here to listen and support you in any way we can.

    All the best,
    NRS
