RE: I wanna run away but I don't know where and I have no money

    Hello!

Thanks for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline. It is a great first step to getting the help that you may need. It sounds you are in a difficult situation. You are so strong for having gone through so much already. You deserve to feel comfortable, safe, and loved in your home. We’re sorry to hear that you get yelled all the time and are mistreated by your brothers. Have you tried to talk to your parents, another family member about what you are experiencing? This could possibly help with coping with everything that is going on. It is perfectly normal not to really understand how to handle difficult situations. However, there is always time to learn and become more self-aware. You mentioned that you have attempted to cut yourself. If you feel like you need to talk when you have these feelings again we are here 24/7 at 1800-RUNAWAY or you can call the National Suicide Hotline at 1800-273-TALK. You are a person that is worthy of life and love. We want you to remain safe and hopefully these numbers could provide you with some support.

You also mentioned that you want to run away, but did not know where. Again, our concern is your safety. Somethings to consider is the reaction your parents will have to you running away. Do you think they will file a runaway report? If so, the police would return you home. We could help find you shelters, but they typically will look if there is a runaway report filled or ask for your parents’ permission to stay in a shelter. Other things to consider are how long will you be gone, will you continue to go to school? There could be other options that could work best for you, which we could also help navigate with you if you call us or utilize our chat service.

As far as you not feeling as though your family loves you, remember that people communicate their feelings in different ways. Some people do not know how to say directly how they feel about one another, which can make them express it in confusing ways. However, this does not give and excuse to any type of mistreatment that you may experience. This is just something to think about.

We hope this information was helpful.

    Stay Safe,
    NRS

        Re:Running away

        Hello.

We're glad you reached out to us. It sounds like you are going through a difficult time. It is sad to lose a loved one. No one deserves to be screamed at or tattled on. Have you thought of talking to someone like a school counselor about your situation? You might also want to reach out to a teacher or a friend who can listen to you and offer support.

If you left home, where do you think you might stay? How do you think you would get to school? Do you think your parents would call the police or file a report? It's not a crime to run away but if your parents file a report, the police can look for you and if they find you, they will return you home.

You might also want to call us at 1-800-runaway to discuss your feelings and thoughts with one of our liners. We are here 24/7 and are confidential.

        Best of luck
