Thank you for contacting the NRS. It is great that you are looking into your options.
It’s great that your aunt is so supportive and is giving you some ideas to think about. It sounds like you are looking for more information about having custody of yourself because you do not want to live with your mom or dad. This process of having custody of yourself called emancipation which varies from state to state.

Some things to keep in mind when thinking about the emancipation process are:
    1. Do you have means to support yourself?
    2. Do you have a stable place to live?
    3. What are your plans for continuing your education?
    4. Who will be your support system?

These are questions that are going to be taken into consideration when deciding if a youth is eligible for emancipation.

We aren’t legal experts but we can direct you to the appropriate legal resources. These resources might give you more insight as to what are some other choices you might have in your current situation.
