I hate it at home and want to run away but i dont know how.

I hate it at home when i get in trouble i'm hit with a belt and it leaves a red welt on my but and sometimes my arm, my dad kicked my in my back when i was seven, hit me in my face when i was 12 which i am now, he hit me in the arm with a belt, and he grabbed me by the neck. My grandma told me to call the police but i don't want to lieve my school or the city i live in. So i just thought i would run away to a friends house but i don't know how.

Thank you for contacting us at the National Runaway Safeline. We are sorry to hear that you are going through such a hard time at home. You don’t deserve to be treated like that. It takes a lot of courage to speak up and ask for help and we are glad that you reached out to us.
You wouldn’t necessarily have to leave your school or your city if you filed a police report. If you call Child Help USA at 1-800-422-4453 they will be able to help you provide information about filing an abuse report. Running away can be hard in many cases. You would have to think about where you might stay, how you might pay for rent, food, and other living expenses. You also might want to think about if you have any medical expenses which might be covered under your mother’s insurance and how your access to this care might get effected if you were to leave home. We are not legal experts here, but in most cases if you are to leave home under the age of 18 you can be brought back home if your legal guardian files a police report and whoever you are staying with could be charged with harboring a runaway and could get in legal trouble.
We are sorry that you are going through this. Have you talked to this about a school counselor? Sometimes talking to a school counselor can be helpful. But just so you know, school counselors are mandated reporters and if you tell them about abuse at home they are mandated by law to report it.
