RE: im 14 and i have a couple questions?

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to us here at the National Runaway Safeline (NRS) through our online forum. It sounds like you are looking for some answers and resources for a few different things. We are not legal experts and we are not too familiar with your situation so we cannot give specific answers to your questions. However, we will do our best to provide some general information and resources that can provide some specific answers.

Regarding emotional abuse, Child Help USA 1-800-422-4453 (www.childhelp.org) is a helpful resource that may be able to provide more specific information on legally what is considered emotional abuse. If you feel you are being abused in any way, you do have the right to report this which Child Help USA can help with. We also can help file a report with you if you wanted to do that.

Regarding running away, we are not legal experts but every state handles runaway cases differently. Running away is generally considered a status offense meaning you're not allowed to do that. It may help to try to get in touch with local law enforcement or have someone help gain some information on runaway laws in your city and state.

It seems you feel a friend may be trying to help too much. It can be difficult to tell someone that their help is causing some stress. However, it may help to be open and honest about how they make you feel. It seems you appreciate the support and concern, but perhaps the way they are trying to help is actually unhelpful. Everyone responds to help differently, and if you need their support less or in a different way, it may help to think about ways that they can help and let them know what you need.

As far as suicide chat rooms, we are not familiar of suicide chat rooms. A one on one chat service is available through a few different resources, however, the most recognized and known talk line with chat service is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 (www.suicidepreventionlifeline.com). You mentioned feeling empty inside and wanting to be left alone by others. These sounds like possible symptoms of depression as well as anxiety which you mentioned you already struggle with. You can chat with someone who may help explore helpful options to managing your anxiety and depression as well as refer you to a professional resource that can help more long-term.

We hope this helps and hope you reach out to us by phone or chat if you would like to talk more or wanted to explore some other resources.

    We wish you luck.

    Take care and be well,

    NRS
