  • my mom makes me want to kill myself

hi im a 13 year old girl and my mom makes me feel horrible about myself. i don’t know if the way i’m feeling is justified by who my mother is and our relationship but sometimes i just take to many things to heart. my mother seems like a nice person sometimes we do get along and we’ll joke around and laugh about some things but sometimes she really makes me feel like human garbage. she yells at me a lot almost on a daily basis and sometimes i can hear her talking bad about me to my father and her friends. my father is a very good man who i trust much more than my mother. sometimes my mom yells at me about things she really shouldn’t. “——— put away your backpack it’s been sour for weeks!” (it’s been out for less than a day and i did have intentions to put it away) “——— what are you doing?!??!!? i told you to do it this way!” (every little thing she’ll nitpick but she won’t be specific in instructions) “——— how did you get a b on your test?!?! did you study?!?!?!” (both my parents expect very high grades from me and i absolutely cannot stand it) i often cry to myself because about how my mother makes me feel. the constant barrage of hurtful words really makes my feel horrible about myself and i really can’t deal with it sometimes. that’s why i’ve recently felt like picking up cutting again even though i worked so hard to stop. some days i really do want to kill myself. but i’m afraid i’ll regret it. (even though ill be dead) i really just want tic feel better and my mother to stop saying suck hurtful things so i can be happier.

    thanks

Thank you for contacting the National Runaway Safeline. We are glad that you are reaching out to share your story, and we hope we will be able to offer some assistance or comfort.

It sounds like you have been going through a very difficult time at home with the way your mother is treating you. Dealing with your mom how she treats you sounds particularly challenging. Since you cannot rely on your family for support, having others in your life that you can talk to may help you manage this very tough situation. In addition to trusted friends, contacts at school like teachers, counselors or a coach, may be able to offer some assistance or advice about how to deal with your home life. Trying to talk to your father to share how you are feeling could also be an option, if you think he would be receptive.
You mentioned going back to cutting and feeling suicidal so we would like to provide you with resources to help. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline can be reached at 1-800-273-8255. Another great resource is the National Alliance on Mental Illness and can be reached at 1-800-950-6264 or online at https://www.nami.org/
Finding ways to manage your stress and cope with these problems could also make them easier to handle. Thinking about what helps you relax could help identify ways to cope. You may want to keep a journal or do something artistic or just find a place to be alone away from your mom and brother where you can listen to music or read or something else that helps you feel calm. Taking care of yourself is important, and we are glad you are seeking help.

We would be happy to discuss your situation further or address any specific questions you may have. Please feel free to call our hotline at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) anytime. We are here 24/7 and are happy to help however we can.
    Take care,
    NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.

hello i am a 13 year old girl and my mom makes me wanna kill myself by the things she says and does. usually im a happy funny girl but my mom had made that girl disappear , me and my mom got along so well until i turned twelve , my mom often calls me a stupid ********** & a whore and sluts and a whole bunch of other stuff. i would like to say i am not a whore or a slut of any of the things she calls me im not even sexually active. my mom never fails to make me feel worthless ive ran away a few times because of her but i no longer can take her disrespect and ect. my mother calls me fast which isn't in a goodway it's another way of calling me a baby thot and what not , now i'm in a relationship with this boy who's very well raised and always making sure i stay out of trouble he respects everyone. i had kissed him once and my mom called me a slut told him to leave dragged me inside by my hair and beat me with a belt until i was red and swollen & proceeded to yell at me and make me do chores. i have tried reaching out to my mom and letting her know i wanted to kill myself she proceeded to say do it then , so as you can see my mother isn't the best and isn't one to reach out to even though she begs my siblings and i to open up to her but we have all tried and she hasn't done anything but made us upset and useless and unloved. my mother is constantly yelling at me & hitting me she had even told me to fight her like an adult since i act like one which i dont i just seek love from boys because she has never given me any type of love unless her friends were around , my boyfriend is amazing and shows me the love i've been looking for and he never fails to put a smile on my face , his mother as well is such a perfect person she's such a better mother then mine. my mother has also cut my hair out and told me there's nothing i can do about it because she gave birth to me so its basically her hair. i really want to get away from her i'm tired of acting like im okay when im not.. funny part is my friends and teachers have noticed my mood changes but she somehow hasn't.. there is a lot more i have to say about ths horrible women but i'm afraid if i do something might happen to me thank you for reading this might be the last thing u ever hear from me..

Hi there, thank you for reaching out. It sounds like your mom says some awful things to you and has been treated you very badly. You do not ever deserve to be treated like this by anyone. You also never deserve to be hit by her and the physical/emotional abuse can be reported to child protective services if that is something you are interested in. You also mentioned that friends and teachers have noticed your demeanor change, it can be an option to open up more to a teacher or an adult that you trust so they can help you be somewhere else safe, even if that is away from your mother. You deserve to live in a house that you feel safe and supported and not how your mom is treating you. We are glad that you have your boyfriend who is that support for you, and even his mom who might be able to help as well. We are also here for you and want to help and support in the best way that we can, so if you would like to talk about this further, please either call our hotline 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or chat us online at 1800runaway.org. We hope to hear from you soon.
        Be safe,
