  • Need to vent

I'm just gonna vent and get some stuff out here so I don't keep it all in my head as I don't think that's very healthy.

I'm a teenager (not gonna give out my age for privacy reasons) but ever since I started school at the age of 5, my mum used to beat the hell out of me. Every time I couldn't get a question right doing homework and I needed help, guess what? That's right, she'd beat me. I'm not talking about a smack, I'm talking about my head getting repeatedly slammed on the edge of the table, her jabbing me with a pen and even threatening to slice me up. There are loads of times where she ripped up my homework or school books so I'd fail. And that's just when I was 5. It got worse later on but she has stopped beating me now, although the screaming, destruction of property and threats continue. Everytime someone raises their voice at me, I associate that with my mum screaming and beating me and become extremely anxious. Every person I talked to about it either laughed at me or didn't take it seriously.

Sorry about this being kind of a rant, but I needed to get this out as I mentioned at the start. Have a nice day, everyone.

    Hello,
Thank you for writing to us here at National Runaway Safeline (NRS). We understand it takes great courage to reach out, and we appreciate you sharing a little bit about what’s going on. We want you to know that we are here as support to help you through this challenging time. First off we want to say that abuse whether its physical, sexual, emotional or verbal, it is never okay and you do not deserve it and do have the right to report it. We want you to know that you do have the right to make a report with Child Protective Services. Child Help USA is an information and referral line that can connect you with your local CPS abuse hotline. That number is 1-800-422-4453. If you ever felt like making a report or needed help, we are here to assist with that. We understand that making an abuse report can be intimidating so if you like we can call together to provide support.
We are glad that you decided to vent to us. Having a space to vent and explore options may often bring out a solution previously not thought of. We can best help by phone or chat. If you would like to talk more in detail please call or chat soon. 1-800-786-2929
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
