RE: I want to move out

    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to us. It sounds like you’ve been having a pretty tough time at home and we’re sorry to hear about this. It had to be really hard going to jail for something that you didn’t actually do. It sounds like your sisters really mean a lot to you and you did what you had to in order to protect them.

It sounds like your mom and sisters have been saying some really hurtful things to you threatening violence against you, and about jumping off a roof and killing yourself. Those are very serious things to be saying to someone and you do not deserve to be told things of this nature. It’s understandable why you would want to leave based on everything that you have shared with us. It sounds like a challenging spot to be in.

We’re not legal experts unfortunately, but generally if someone leaves before the age of 18 without legal guardian’s permission, they would have the right to make a runaway report. If a report is made, and the police find you they typically would just bring you back home. However, anyone that you stay with could potentially be charged for harboring. It sounds like you have a safe place to go to if you decide to leave which is good to hear. Our main priority is always your safety.

If you would like to call your chat with us, we can talk in more detail through your options and try to come up with a plan that will keep you safe and that you’re comfortable with. We’re here to support you.

    Best,
    NRS
