Just need help. I try so hard to please my parents. I feel like a complete alien next to them. They don't even love each other and they fight and drink to get through the week. I have a very privileged life with a good school and home and lots of possessions. But emotionally I feel I have nothing. Dad is controlling and awful, he has no respect for me and treats me like a baby. I have a boyfriend of 2.5 years and he has been the best thing to happen to me, he also has a wonderful loving family which I adore. But he asked if I could go over Sunday. This shouldn't be a problem but I can't bring myself to ask because it turns into this big deal with restrictions and dad forces control where it isn't needed. I try to understand them but I also try to talk to mum about it but she just takes dads side and I end up just being the sad hormonal teenager who just needs to grow up. I hate it here. I try and talk to mum and I did just before crying my heart out. She made me feel like very thing was my fault and that nothing is actually wrong here I'm just being stupid. She makes excuses for everything and leaves me feeling even more like an alien and that I'm wrong and everything I do is wrong. I still have to wait another year before I can officially leave this town.. I want to move in with my sister...

    RE: Lost

    Hello there,

If you have contacted NRS today through another means (for example, live chat, email or bulletin/forum post) for the same issue, it would be helpful to let us know that you have already contacted us. NRS understands it takes courage to reach out for help; therefore, we would like to minimize the need for you to repeat your situation and avoid offering you duplicate services.

It sounds like you are going through a challenging time right now at home. You seem to be feeling alone and unsupported by your parents which we imagine is hurtful and disappointing. Talking things out may be quite helpful, and we hope you reach out soon to explore some options and resources that may help.

If you did already reach out and still have questions, please feel free to call us at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929).

Best of luck and take care,

    NRS
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
