Usually when people are thinking about leaving home, it is important for them to find a place to live before they leave. We have a database of resources and shelters where you could stay if you decided to leave home. Sometimes schools will have cheap apartments for their students. Thinking through family members or friends who can stay with might be a good idea too.

You mentioned that you’re feeling suicidal. It can be important to reach out for support when you are feeling that way and it’s smart that you shared that with us. One other organization that might be able to provide you with support is the National Suicide Hotline (1800-273-8255).

I am a 19 year old female and I'm broke. I can't stand being home anymore because I'm constantly being treated like a baby and my mom yells a lot. She once called me a stupid teenager and that set me off. I'm becoming suicidal living in that hell and I don't know what to do. I have finds but they are all either away at college or in high school. I am currently enrolled at a community college. I don't have a job yet but I will be hopefully getting one in the next few months, a good paying one too! I just need some advice on how to get out of there asap!
