My mom said i’m ruining my family.

I am 17 and will be 18 in December. Today i rear ended another vehicle leaving no damage to them but tore my bumper off because i hit their hitch. My mom told me i was a ******** up and that’s all i would ever be. Later this evening my mom lost it. i opened up the door to talk to her and she was like what do you want and i said are those my earbuds and she said no. what the ******** do you want and i said i was just trying to talk to you never mind and she ran after me and pushed me through a door and it broke and slammed me into the frame and said all i do is tear this family apart and she's tired of it and said that she "wants to do more than slam you through a door. do you ********ing understand me. if you don't say something you can just see what happens" and so i said yes and walked into my room. I would like to LEGALLY leave without having to go through court and battle with my parents but i see no way of doing so.

You don’t deserve to be treated at home the way your mom has been treating you. We offer a conference calling service, between youth and their parents. If you ever wanted our help talking to your mom about how you're being treated at home, we're always here to make that call with you. Sometimes just being able to talk can be a way to open up the lines of communication, and see the best way that everyone can compromise.

Legally you are a minor and under your guardian’s supervision until you are 18 or are emancipated by a court of law. If you decide to leave home without their permission, your parents could file a runaway report on you. Running away is not a crime, it is a status offense, so you wouldn’t be arrested for doing so. We have legal aid resources in our database, they’re lawyers who help youth for free. You mentioned not wanting to go through the courts but you change your mind, they would help you. We’re here to try to brainstorm options with you.
