  • 20 With A Disability And Needing To Leave Home

I want to start out by saying that I’m not going to run away, and I know I’m too old for my dad to be held responsible for me, but I have no one else to talk to and don’t know what to do so I’m going to ask on here. Are there any resources for people who have mental disabilities who are unemployed to find a place to stay in Missouri? Somewhere that will accept pets, because I’m not just giving my dog away, she’s not disposable. I’ve been found disabled by the state (mainly because of my mental illnesses) and receive $470 a month, which I am grateful for, but is not enough to afford rent anywhere near me. I live with my dad, but I have to leave because he is very toxic for someone with mental illness to live with. There’s no way I could list every mean thing he has ever said to me, but for example when I’ve stated being suicidal before he told me to “go kill myself”. He thinks I’m using my mental illnesses for attention and as an excuse, which I am absolutely not. I have no friends or other family to live with so that’s out of the question. Can someone please help me?
