    Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to us at the National Runaway Safeline. We're sorry to hear about all that has been going on for so long and want you to know that you deserve to feel safe and happy in your home. Your life is valuable and there are people that want to help and support you. If you are ever feeling down or like you want to kill yourself, don't hesitate to call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.

We understand that it takes a great deal of courage to seek help. You mentioned experiencing emotional and physical abuse, as well as neglect, which may be reportable against your parents. Please keep in mind you by no means deserve any type of abuse, emotional or otherwise. That said, we can’t be 100% sure what the outcome will be if your local CPS decides to open a case based on what you share. Sometimes CPS decides to remove minors from the home and other times they offer services such as family counseling or mediation instead. The only way to know the outcome might be to reach out to them directly and if you’re ready to do that we are here to help you through that process. Reaching out to Child Help USA at (1-800-422-4453) or www.childhelp.org may help to get a better understanding of what may happen before and after a report is made. We are also here 24/7 to listen and help you as you think through your options and make these big decisions for yourself. We can always be reached at 1-800-786-2929.

    Stay safe,

    NRS

    I want to run away

My parents think I'm the best to be picked on all of time. It is fair being my other siblings have austism. I wanted to kill myself 7-9 years of age. I always have low-self esteem. My mom would always say I don't care if you run away. My dad tried to throw a butter knife at me once. He always yells at me. But this year he sounds abusive and I get scared. He has punched me really hard. I love them, more than anything. I don't want, but may have to. My mom always said "If child services or your teachers see this house they'd remove you". I used to bolt to my neighbors house at a young age of me trying to run away.

I really need to make one of my biggest choices in life. Any advice? - anoymous
