Hello there, thanks for reaching out today.
Sounds like you have been through a whole lot between living with your mom, grandma, and now your dad, and you are wanting to love in with a friend. You so deserve a stable living environment and to be treated with respect.
We are not legal experts but we can speak generally. Whoever your legal guardian is can generally give you permission to live with a friend. That is the easiest way you can stay there. Your parent(s) would not need to sign something to give permission, but if your friend's parents would like to take temporary custody of you that does generally look like all parties signing a form and having in notarized. If you leave home without permission, that is when a parent could file you as a runaway with the local police if you are under 18 years old, and if you are found you typically would be returned home. Your friend or her parents could be at risk of being charged with harboring a runaway if you are found at their house by police.
It sounds like you are wanting to prove the past abuse you endured from your mom. You do have the right to report all instances of abuse to child protective services. To learn more about reporting and what it could look like in your situation, you might reach out to the expert child advocates at Child Help 1-800-422-4453. If you would like assistance reporting please call us at 1-800-RUNAWAY.
Please do not hesitate to call or chat us if you would like to talk through your situation. We are here to listen, here to help.
Best,
NRS

I jump from one place to the next
so a while ago my mom laid her hands one me for the first time , but I was always emotionally abused
I was being degraded by my brothers and sisters.
so I moved in with my grandma and it lasted about 2 years . Now I’m living with my dad and having to change schools once again. I’m wondering if this will be my last stop or an I going to go into a foster home like my mom was threatening to put me in?
I’ve had my friend Ciara since I was in 2nd grade , and I’m now going into highschool. Her parents have talked seriously about me moving in a while back but I don’t know about now. If they did want me to move in, what would it take ? Would both of my parents have to sign something for them to be my legal care ? Or one of them?
What if my parents said no? What legal action would have to be taken? What would the process be like ? What would I have to prove about my situation?Tags: None
