My dad moved out about 7 months ago following my parents divorce and my mom has a new boyfriend . My mom and her boyfriend go out nearly every weekend and I’m constantly left at home alone , she is only usually at home when she has had work that day but I usually don’t see her from Friday to Monday . I have talked to her about this multiple times about how I feel lonely and responsible for everything at home and she says that she’s sorry and things will change but they don’t and I don’t know what to do anymore .. she complains about how I’m never happy and makes me feel guilty and it’s upsetting

Hi, thank you for reaching out to us at the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like you are left at home a lot by your mother. It is understandable that you would be upset about her not spending more time with you. We know that you mentioned that you have tried talking to her about how you feel before. That is really brave of you but can be upsetting when thing just go back to the way they were. If there is someone that has influence on your mother (like an old sister or her mother) it could be a good idea to talk to them about getting through to her. Additionally, perhaps you can consider using our conference calling service, this is a service where you would call us and we would hold a conference call between you and your mother to talk about how both sides are feeling. We would serve as mediators, we are not here to necessarily choose sides but rather help come up with a solution that would make the situation at home better. This might be helpful to you if you have concerns about your mother not listening or not being open to hear what you have to say. If you feel like this is a service that you would find useful you can give us a call and one of our trained liner will be happy to assist you.
Again, thank you for reaching out. If there is anything else that you need please give us a call anytime. 1-800-786-2929
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
