There is not much wrong with my life but I get sick all the time. My parents don't understand that I can't deal with school anymore.

They constantly say that I need to go to school. Like I don't know that already! I want to be home schooled but my parents say no.

Missing so much school is killing me and I don't know what to do. I think homeschooling would be the answer but my mom is freaking out. They just don't understand.

If I run away I think it would bee best for both me and my parents. It would give me the break I need and a wake up call for my parents.

Thanks so much for writing in. It sounds like you’re dealing with a difficult situation right now. You mentioned that school is a big source of trouble in your life right now, and that you just can’t deal with it anymore. It sounds like you realize you need and want to go to school but it is just too much for you. Are there specific things that are happening at school that are making you not want to go? When did you start feeling this way? Are there any options that you think might help in this situation, especially in regards to what you are dealing with at school? It sounds like you have talked with your parents about how you are feeling, and even expressed wanting to be home schooled. If home schooling is not an option, have you talked about any other options that may work in this situation? Would going to an alternative school be something you could discuss with your parents? Now one of the first things you mentioned was that you get sick all the time. Is this the main reason you are missing so much school in the first place? Is this something that just recently starting happening or have you been dealing with this for some time now?

It definitely sounds like a frustrating situation and it’s completely understandable how you are feeling. You mentioned thinking of running away to get a break from everything. Have you ever runaway before? Do you have an idea of where you could go? It sounds like perhaps you just need some time to get away and think about options that may help in your situation? Do you have any friends or family you could stay with for a while to clear your head? What if you talked with your parents about taking some time away, do you think they would let you at least take a few days to think about things for yourself? Sometimes it can help to be able to get away and clear your head, but if you do leave it’s also important for you to be safe about it.
