RE: im 17 an pregant
Dear haddi17,
Thank you for reaching out to NRS to help with your situation. It is great you are trying to find a resolution and keep you and your baby safe. We are sorry to hear this is happening to you and hope to help the best we can. Here at NRS we are mandated reporters for abuse and neglect; however, if you feel unsafe at home and want to report your mom for abuse you can call NRS to help you with the process. It sounds like you really want what’s best for your baby because you mentioned you do have a stable home to go to if you decide to leave your home. We find that in many cases runaway reports to the police for 17 year olds are often times not pursued. However, if you are able to call your local police department they would be able to provide you with detailed information on how they handle runaway reports. It is great that you want to stay in school, but at times if a runaway report is made by your mom, your school may or may not contact her or the police to let them know of your whereabouts. Please give us a call if you need more specific information or even a shelter to stay in if you feel unsafe at home. We are open 24/7 and are confidential. Keep safe and stay strong.
Best,
NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
