  • Abusive parents?

I'm 16 and recently my mum has been extremely physical while trying to have power over me : for instance, just now I came back from a football club I teach with my Dad and afterwards I got a McDonalds. I called and asked if she wanted anything and she said no but I went to McDonald's, my dad bought me a meal and I bought my self an ice cream cone and a sundae for my mum. When I got home I asked if she wanted it as I bought it for her and she said yes. I had a couple of scoops of it to try because I thought I could have a little as I bought it. She had a go at me for ages and continued to scream at me for "having 6 or 7 mouthfuls of HER icecream." I personally didn't think I did anything wrong and I thought I did a nice thing for buying her ice cream on a hot day so I said sorry I just really wanted to try some as I hadn't had a toffee sundae from McDonald's before. She continued to scream for ages and ended up eating my chips from my meal to try and show me how horrible it was and putting the rest of my meal in the bin and told me to go upstairs. I came down a few minutes later and asked if I could just eat my lunch which been looking forward to for ages. After her refusing me to take the bag of my filet o fish out the bin she grabbed it out started hitting me with it and then threw it on the ground and started stomping on it and my food was ruined and was all over the floor. I was so distraught as I had been looking forward to this so so long and it was a reward from my dad for working so hard on revision for my GCSE's exams in about 9 days. The food was completely ruined and then she started properly hitting, punching and slapping me so much my dad had to hold her back.

She has been doing this type of thing a lot recently trying to assert her dominance and I don't know if she feels she can't control me anymore because I'm getting older and smarter than her and she feels threatened that she should be the top of the house but it is so destroying to me as I am already stressed enough with my exams and that I don't feel safe in my own home. I know people may be saying this is just discipline but I know what discipline is and this is so out of hand recently that I have to self-defend my self otherwise she would really hurt me.

I really would like some advice or opinions on this as I don't know if I'm just overreacting. ( I don't want to get my mum in trouble )
