  • My family is mean and I want to move

I am going to turn 18 next week and I want to move out but I have no money or any way of doing so. I hate being at home because it gives me anxiety and stress. My parents have made it so I constantly get anxity attacks and hate myself. My mom will constantly call me fat and ugly and how I am so smart and won’t admount to anything. My father isn’t any better he just yells. They refuse to help pay for my college tuition and I can’t even take out a loan bsu case they refuse to co-sign. My only option is community college but I really don’t want to live at home. The more I stay here the more I want to die. What should I do?

    Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out to National Runaway Safeline. It’s a good start that you are turning 18 next week as this allows you the freedom to make your own choices for your next steps. It sounds really stressful what you have been experiencing at home and you have some steps to take to becoming independent. It may be good to start looking into the cost of living on your own and figuring out the steps you need to take to be able to move out. One thing that we can look up for you is Transitional Living Placements, which are places that have supportive programs to help you in this stage of life.
