Thank you for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help, and we are glad you did. We are sorry to hear that your home life/relationship with your mom is strained, and it’s understandable that you would want to remove yourself from stress and conflict. Due to the fact that you are a minor, if you were to leave home without permission, there is the chance your mom could file a runaway report and police would return you home.
Family Counseling is a great way to open up communication channels in a safe and respectful way. Once a channel of communication is opened, perhaps the idea of living with another family member (grandma, dad, etc) could be brought up. Another option is utilizing the National Runaway Safeline conference call service. We would be able to help mediate those tough conversations..
We hope this was helpful and we encourage you to reach out by phone if you need additional resources or need help figuring out your options. Our number is 1-800-786-2929 and our lines are always open. If you have a moment, we'd appreciate your feedback of our crisis services at the following link:

    Stay safe!

I want to live with my Dad

My mom is verbally abusive and is unpleasant to be around. We don't get along anymore. She has been this way my whole life, she physically abused me when I was younger but rarely does it anymore. She's more verbally abusive than physically now. She gets in my face and yells and is super controlling, I can't do ANYTHING. She doesn't respect me. I've dealt with her for years, and some months she's fine and then others she's out of control. I'm tired of it. I want to be happy and enjoy my teen years. I attempted to run away one time but I called my grandma and she made me go back home. She called the cops on me and they talked to me but didn't get me in trouble. She has full custody of me. I want to live with my Dad. What do I do because she is very hard to deal with and probably wouldn't let me live with him but that's what I know is best for me. I'm 15 by the way.
