  • I just want to escape

I have anxiety and depression and I just cant take it anymore. I just want to leave. Get away. Just jump the wall and not come back. I know I would never make it in my state because I am pretty much in the middle of nowhere and I dont have a car. I also have no money and im not old enough for a job. I have no real reason to want to leave my family other then the fact that nothing other then my grades seems to matter anymore. Every time I get called its to show me the newest thing I forgot or failed or to ask if I had done that thing yet. other then that my dad does not really talk to me that much, my mom does. I just hate my dad at this point because he continuously brings up everything that is stressing me to the point were I just want to kneel down and scream for everything that hurts. I live and breathe school and Im so tired and so stressed that just leaving sounds great. Running away could wreak my life but god I need it so badly.

    Hello there,

Thanks for sharing your story with us. It sounds like you are under a lot of pressure. It is important to listen to yourself and we are glad you are taking this first step to get the help you need.

First, you mentioned that you have anxiety and depression to a point where it’s physically taxing. Have you talked to anyone about these feelings before? If you are not comfortable talking to friends or family about these feelings, you should feel free to call us at 1-800-RUN-AWAY (786-2929) and we can talk about what’s going on or connect you with mental health resources in your area.

Also, it seems that a lot of the stress you face stems from your parents’ high expectations for school and your dad’s failure to connect with you. It sounds like what you really want is a break or way to blow off steam. Hanging out with a friend, journaling, spending time on a hobby are just a few of many ways to coping with stress and reminding yourself of your worth outside of grades. Also, it sounds like you want your dad to connect with you other than him micromanaging you. Perhaps you can talk to your mom about how your dad makes you feel and she can communicate this to him or you can suggest that you and dad do something that the two of you enjoy that you haven’t done in a while. There are also many other ways of approaching your situation, if you would like to discuss your situation in more detail and explore options, we encourage you to call us (again, the number is 1-800-RUN-AWAY (786-2929)) – we are open 24/7 and are happy to help.
