  • I need a way out

Hello I recently turned 18, the past few months have been rough between my family, me and my boyfriend or ex, I don't know what to call him. My parents have always sheltered me and I met Isaiah, boyfriend, about 4 months ago. It was all smooth the first month and then things took a turn. My parents and him got into a huge argument and a lot o bad things happen. Ever since that they have not approved of us, my mother has people watching me at school and my father has people watching me at work. My boyfriend proposed to me the other day, and I did not want to embarrass him so I said yes. I was not intending to marry him soon, I have plans to go into the Air Force so I knew that wouldn't last long. My mom went through my bag and saw the ring but she didn't say anything. So, we came back from spring break today and my mom works at my school if I didnt say that, but anyways some kids decided to tell her about my "engagement." So she checks me out early and we are on the way to my recruiter's office and she justs starts questioning me and threatening, she tells me that I can't ever see him again and that he is getting his ring back, and takes my phone as well. I am tired of being treated like a baby. I paid for my phone and I pay the service on it, she cannot take that. I have no more strength in me, my family has chosen my life for me and at this point I would lose it all just for my happiness. I am the perfect student, top of my class and my grades never fall below As. Can I legally just run away

It sounds like you are overwhelmed with things at home with your family and your boyfriend, and you are thinking about leaving home. In most states, once a person is 18, they are considered adults. This means that you have the right to leave home without your parent's permission.
