  • Living with another family for school

I'm a fifteen year old teen, and I'm currently living in a place where I don't like the schooling. I'd prefer to live with my friend and their family in order to be able to attend school their for a better education. All I really need help with is if it's legal to live with another family during the school year(s). Given I have permission to be residing there by both families.

Thank you for reaching out to us here at National Runaway Safeline. We understand that it takes courage to seek help. It sounds like you don't like the school that you are attending and want to stay with a friend. It seems like you are very intelligent and want to have a successful future. We are not legal experts however, if your legal guardian gives you permission to stay with a friend then there shouldn't be a problem. You may want to get something in writing from your family stating that they grant your friend's family permission for you to stay with. We hope that this information helps, please feel free to contact us directly via our 24 hour crisis hotline (1-800-786-2929), email, or live chat. Good Luck !
