Hello,
First of all, we want to thank you for reaching out today. It sounds like your friend is in a tough situation, and that must be challenging for both of you. You are a good friend for seeking help on his behalf. Telling him to contact the police if he feels unsafe is very good advice.
We are also sorry to hear that your friend’s parents are so intolerant. Leaving home is a valid option, although as a minor, your friend could face some challenges if he left without his parent’s permission. If they filed a runaway report, the police could get involved in bringing him home. If he is weighing his options, we encourage him to contact our hotline at any time at 1-800-786-2929. Additionally, the LGBT National Hotline can be reached at 1-888-843-4564. You can also use these resources to talk through your friend’s situation further. It sounds like it has been stressing you out, which is totally understandable, and we are here for you.
Again, thank you for getting in touch with us and being so considerate to your friend. Feel free to get in touch with us. We’re here to listen, here to help.

Worried about my Friend's Current Situation.
I have a friend who's just told me that his older brother ran away because of their parents. The older brother is being taken care of by their older sister and her husband. Their parents are very controlling and forced their religion on him and my friend which negatively affects my friend himself (he identifies as bisexual and his parents' religion is VERY anti-LGBT) The older brother recently turned 18, but my friend is still 14. My friend, being 14, can't just leave and live with his siblings. The parents aren't even worried about the older brother, they're just mad that he left and believe that it's someone else's doing. The mother has been screaming at the older sister on the phone and my friend is really scared, I'm worried about him immensely. I've told him that if he feels unsafe, he should call the police or his sister if he needs a place to go. I just wish that he could go and stay with his siblings or even my place because I feel like he's not safe in the environment that he's in now. I don't know what to do to help him.Tags: None
