  • thinking about running away.

I um...I just had a huge fight with my sister and I told her how I felt and how all her drinking and smoking and carelessness has me worried and how I still relive the night she passed out and how I think she judges everyone else when she wasn't really a good person herself. And she just started saying all this horrible selfish stuff. And I can't stop crying and stuff...I'm just tired of cleaning up after her screw ups. I'm 16 and she's about to be 19 soon. I'm just so tired of it.

I just...I've never had an argument like the one I had tonight with my sister.

I'm such a horrible person for telling her how much I worried and how scared I am that she will make the same mistakes.

the thing is...we had such a close relationship...we told each other everything and all of a sudden this fight tonight.

    I don't know where I will go.

I have money. and I have family. but I don't want to impose.

I'll probably leave when my mom and sis are at church, and my dad is out at a business meeting.

    Re: thinking about running away.

Thank you for posting a bulletin. We are sorry to hear about your fight with your sister. It sounds like you had a rough night. Have you ran away before? Do you feel that it will make things better? It can be hard to see the people we care about making choices that can be harmful or hurtful to theirselves. Have you talked to anyone else about your concerns with your sister (mom, dad or friends)? Do you think that your parents know of your sister drinking and smoking? It seems like you feel responsible for your sister’s mistakes and that can be frustrating having to fix things. It sounds like you have planned when you are going to leave, but have you thought about where you would go? Or how long you would be gone? You had mentioned that you have family and money, but who are you feeling you might impose on? Do you think that your parents would file a runaway report? In most cases running away in not illegal, but the police could “arrest” you. They would contact your parents and detain you until your parents can pick you up. Other legal and court problem could happen if you are on probation. It may be helpful to also contact the Alcohol and Drug Helpline at 1800-821-4357 or to give to your sister.
