  • PLEASE HELP!

me and my best friend have been through everything together (we're 14)
and now, we want to go through one more thing
    that's running away

    my situation:
i grew up with a single mother, she had me when she was 19
she never acted as a parent should,
she just wanted to be my friend
she would always yell at me and i became depressed
i started drinking, cutting, and i smoked a few times
the only father figure i have lives on the opposite side of the country.
he says that if i mess up, he's gonna fly here and beat my ***
    i'm scared

    her situation:
her parents are divorced, but she spends time with both of them
her mom is nice, but her dad is abusive
and a lot of the time, she isn't allowed to do anything

she says she doesn't want me to leave without her.
we seem to have the perfect plan; stealing money from our parents
and taking a taxi to our chosen destination. we would stay
in a motel when we got there and have a daily allowance
and have a budget. we would stay as long as possible.

it seems too good to work, and we don't know what to do anymore...

    Re: PLEASE HELP!

Thank you for posting a bulletin. It sounds like you and your friend have a plan in running away. In order to rent a room at a motel you need to be at least 18. Here are a few other things to consider before running away that are from out website:

    • What else can I do to improve my home situation before I leave?
    • What would make me stay at home?
    • How will I survive?
    • Is running away safe?
    • Who can I count on to help me?
    • Am I being realistic?
    • Have I given this enough thought?
    • What are my other options?
    • If I end up in trouble, who will I call?
    • When I return home, what will happen?

Do you feel that running away will solve your problem with your mom? It seems like you and your friend have a strong friendship. It is understandable to that want to not leave your friend with her home situation. Do you think that your parents will file a runaway? Have you talked to anyone about your plan?
