Re: I want to run away to Ohio
Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out to us here at the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like you have been trying to plan out leaving home for a while now and you’re looking for some help. We’re glad that you found us, we’re here to help as much as we can.
You shared that you have been feeling lost with everything going on in your life, and you feel like you do not belong in Canada. This has got to be a lot to deal with at home. Is there anything specific that’s been going on that you are trying to get away from? It sounds like you have your mind set on Garfield Heights in Ohio, is there someone there that would be willing to have you stay with them? We’re not here to tell you what to do, we’re just here to help keep you safe in whatever decision you make.
We’re not legal experts here, and it sounds like you are in a different country so we do not want to give you the wrong information about what may happen if you leave your home without legal guardian’s permission. One option you have is to call your local law enforcement to ask hypothetical questions about what may happen in your situation. This is a resource that may be of use to try to locate helpful resources in Canada: http://www.yourlifecounts.org/need-h...ince_value=All
We’re here to support you in any way that we can. Although our resources are limited to the United States, we’re here to listen and here to talk if you would like.
Good luck and stay safe,
NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
