I'm am possible thinking of leaving my home but I have nowhere to go. I am no longer close to any of my friends and distant to my family. I am going to my second year in college and have my own car. I am living with my mom and step dad and 3 other siblings. My step dad dosent care for me and my older brother. I try my best to help but I'm not apreciated at all. I'm worried for my mom and older brother but I honestly can't take this verbal abuse anymore. As of now I can't stop tearing up writing this and I'm really confused. Any advice is welcome. Tia

Re: 20 in a month and wanting to leave my home
Hey there,
Thank you for being able to reach out to us here at the National Runaway Safeline, it seems like you are going through a pretty tough time at this point in your life and we want you to know that we are here to listen and to help in the best way we can. We’re sorry about your situation at home, from what you shared it seems like you are pretty overwhelmed.
Here at the National Runaway Safeline, we have plenty of resources to shelters and transitional living programs available for adults who are looking to become more independent and move out of their home. Because you are 20 years old, in most states you are allowed to leave your home unless there is some type of extended guardianship in your situation. Leaving home may be a big and frightful step in your life, but it can be a consideration to try and make the situation better on yourself.
Leaving home could be a difficult decision to make, but if this is something that you are considering, please feel free to give us a call and discuss some options with us and perhaps talk a little more about your situation. We will also be able to provide you with more information regarding shelters and transitional living programs in your area. We are here 24/7 and our hotline number is 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929). We also have a live chat program that is available from 4:30 PM to 11:30 PM CST. We wish you the best of luck in whatever it is you decide to do and hope to hear from you soon.
Stay strong,
NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
