  • I feel stuck and I'm not sure what to do...

Hello, I'm 13 and for the past year or so I've been wanting to call CPS. I'm constanly wondering if I do call what will happen if I'm not taken away? I'm scared that if I do call I won't have any evidence to back up what I'm saying. Everyday I either want to die or be put in a loving family, somewhere where I will be treated with respect and not bullied by the ones who are supposed to love me. Honestly I'm stuck in what to do.

First of all, thank you for reaching out to us. That can be the most difficult step, so appreciate you taking this move. This sounds like an incredibly tough situation, and there are a number of options to look at so that you're not continuing to feel stuck. Our priority first and foremost is to make sure you are safe.

You mention wanting to die, so of course we want to tackle that first. We are here 24/7 if you want to talk or chat with us about what's going on at home. Another option is to call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255. As far as calling CPS, they will listen to what is going on and provide some options. Without the details of what's happening at home, we can't say how they will respond, but definitley encourage reporting to them if there is any kind of abuse taking place. Your safety is a very important concern, so would encourage looking at that first, without a fear of repurcussion if you stay at home. Another option we recommend is talking to other family, friends, or someone at school who might be able to provide some support. Another option might be staying with family or friends or another alternative living situation.

Again, thank you for reaching out to us during this very difficult time. We hope we're provided some guidance to you, and if you would like to talk further, we are here 24/7. We're here to listen. Here to help.
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
