  • 15 and my parents threaten me

ima sophmore in high school. my parents and i dont have a relationship. to be honest i really hate them. my dad gets angry so easily for example today he started banging on my door saying that if i dont open the door that he'll break the door down.
He said if i dont come out of my room that he'll hit me. I just wanted to get out of that room, but theres only 1 window in my room and that window has bars on it, so even if i wanted to, I couldn't leave. I am honestly so scared of him idk what to do.
I dont want to live with them anymore. I want to live in my friends house but i'm sure that my parents will call the police and report me missing. i hate them so much i wish they were run over by a car. they think that they are such god parents and i just hate that. its so funny how they want me to go to dinner with them for "mothers day" . when i said no, they said i had no choice.

RE: 15 and my parents threaten me

    Hello,

Thanks for reaching out to us for help. It sounds like you are in a really scary and stressful home situation. It is understandable that you are feeling scared and that you want to leave. It sounds like your dad angers easily and threatens you often. That sounds really difficult to deal with.

We are here to listen and support you in any way that we can. If you run away, your parents can call the police and file a runaway report. This means that the police can make you go home, and that your friends could get into trouble for harboring you. Do you have a plan for where you will stay and how you will survive? We are here to help you make a plan to stay safe. It sounds like you are struggling with some really strong feelings of hatred and resentment towards your parents, and like you are even imagining them dying in an accident. Have you ever talked to anybody about these feelings before? We are here for you to listen and support you however we can. Please feel free to reach out to us if you need someone to talk to about your options and your plan. We are looking forward to hearing from you soon, and wish you the best of luck.
Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.

Guys I know its 2017 My parents are so crazy. They allow me to some thing but a very slim chance it will happen anyways. Lets say im going to a trip and I apparently "Start Beef" With my parents they would threaten to drop me off in the middle of no where. Also everytime I do a little thing they would always yell at me call me names and wish for an abortion with me. Im only 12 and Im going through this ********. And my parents are the biggest hypocrite they tell me not to curse but they do the same thing. And also Im forced to do any rules they please. Also lets say they give me 1 Dollar to go for lunch I say something like "Thats it?" And they forcefully yell at me saying "YOU TRY MAKING YOUR OWN MONEY" And I would start to cry and they would yell "STOP CRYING" And they exept my emotions to be okay. They would also say "GO TO A DIFFRIENT FAMILY" And I would say No and beg for them to stop but they woudnt but those words are fanning there flames. Also everytime I eledgedly say something rude in there eyes. They always tell me I wish you were 18 So we can kick you out. And I have ran away before not doing some ***** ********. And they would see me from far away and say "YOU BETTER COME HERE BEFORE WE BEAT YOU" And it really made me so sad. And my mother would use my dad against me. I bought these shoes with my own money keep in mind. Than I decided to trade them and I did so. When I come home they feicly yell at me saying I should get abandoned and things like you didnt ask us even though I was giving alot of emphisis on it. And they told me I can never buy shoes again. And it destroyed me Help me...

        Hi,
Thank you so much for writing in. It sounds like you’re going through a really tough time with your parents. Please know that you don’t deserve to be treated that way; you deserve to be loved and cherished, most especially by your parents. You deserve to feel heard and supported in your home.
You mentioned that your parents sometimes threaten to hurt you. You never deserve to be harmed and what your parents have said is not okay. While we’re not legal experts, this may be considered abuse. If you are comfortable, you might consider talking about this situation with a teacher, guidance counselor, coach, or even a leader at a religious organization. Any one of these people are considered “mandated reporters,” meaning that they are required to notify child protective services if they hear of any abuse toward a minor. If you’re uncertain of what that process might look like or want to talk about it further, you might consider reaching out to Child Help, who has expertise in issues of child abuse and child protective services: 1-800-422-4453.
It sounds like you and your parents are having a hard time understanding each other and that your parents aren’t being considerate of how their words and actions are impacting you. You might consider reaching out to another adult to mediate a conversation between you and your parents. This could be another family member, a guidance counselor, a therapist, or one of the liners here at the National Runaway Safeline. This person should be able to help you all communicate your needs and feelings clearly and fairly. If you’d like to have one of our liners to facilitate a conference call between you all, our number is 1-800-786-2929. If you’d like to locate a therapist in your area, you might consider reaching out to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration: 1-877-726-4727. Yet another option is living elsewhere. If your parents allow you, you might consider staying with another family member or a friend instead of living where you are now.
Thanks again for reaching out. We know it takes a lot of courage to look for support. If you wanna talk about your situation further, please feel free to reach out to us 24/7. Best of luck.

My name is Haidyn (I'm 13) And my parents threaten and call me names. I remember the first time my dad called me useless. when I was 5. He loses his temper so easily that he says he'll beat my ass. It's funny cause he runs an anti bullying club at the school he works at, but still bullys his own kid. My parents make me believe its my fault and since I have no one to take my anger out on. I do what my parents do. I take it out on myself. I don't go so far with the knife, I claw myself and hit my forehead. I don't even feel safe crying in my own house. I'm to scared to ask for counceling and over all I'm tired of this abuse. Please help me if there is an escape to this.
