I'm 18, yes. And technically can move out legally and it isn't considered running away, but I need help. My mother is literally a prostitute, selling her body for money despite the fact she can easily get a job. Most times she's out partying or ********ing with men. When she's at home she's lazy and ignores me 24/7. My step father on the other hand is abusive physically and verbally. I've had to deal with their ******** all my life and could never do anything about it, but now that I'm 18, I can finally leave. My problem is that I have no money or a job. I can't get a job because they are my only transportation to and back home, and since we have no money for driver's ed (More like my mom is just too lazy and ignorant to help me pay for it) I don't have a license. Please tell me what I should do. I can't live in these conditions any more. I'm near the point of breaking and have no where to go.

Hi,
Thank you for reaching out and explaining a bit about your situation. It sounds like you’re in need of support and we’re here to help!
We’re sorry to hear that your situation at home has become so difficult for you, it’s completely understandable why you’d want to get away from the negativity. It’s not okay that your stepfather has been harming you. Abuse is never okay, in any situation, regardless of your age. You absolutely don’t deserve to be treated that way and it’s brave of you to look for help.
Since you’re 18, you might consider looking into an emergency shelter or a transitional living program. Emergency shelters generally can give you a place to stay for up to 30 days. Transitional living programs are more long term and generally provide young adults with long-term housing for low or no cost and help its participants develop the skills they may need once they leave the program. If you call the National Runaway Safeline (1-800-786-2929), we can try to help you find a TLP or shelter in your area.
If you ever need a listening ear or would like to talk about options in your area, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. You’re not alone in this! Our lines are open 24/7. Best of luck to you.
Be safe, NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
