I live in a very poor area with underfunded public schools. I have tried my hardest to achieve good grades, to no avail. I am trying to make friends, but over 90% of teens here do drugs, and I don't want to hang out with those kinds of people. I have repeatedly told my parents that there are far safer and far better places to raise a family, but they continue to insist that it's the best place to live in America and that all the other places are far, far worse. Even my doctors and teachers make this statement. When I show them the statistics from city-data.com, bestplaces.net, onboardllc.com, census.gov, among other sites, they insist that the government is trying to get people to move to areas where they'll become victims of crime and bad education by publishing falsified statistics. This is why I came up with a conspiracy theory that the government paid off my parents to move here to make me unsafe and unsuccessful, all while paying off teachers and doctors to lie about the place. I am very intelligent and believe that because of this, the government believes that I am going to conspire against them when I grow up...after all, they have committed many criminal acts over the past 20 years that have been well-publicized on the news. I mean, how else could my parents, doctors, and teachers alike have the same completely delusional belief that this is the best place to live in America (when it clearly is not)? When I told my parents about the conspiracy theory, they sent me to the mental hospital where all of my democratic rights were taken away. It was 12 hours of work and only 2 hours of freetime. They falsely diagnosed me with schizophrenia and paranoia, and claimed that I was hallucinating the statistics and anti-drug propaganda. They even said that drugs are not bad for people and that people who do drugs can still go on to do great things and achieve great grades. They brought over a drug-user student from a local university (who magically managed to make the Dean's List despite her drug use) to attempt to prove it. But I know that they're not telling the truth. That brought me to another theory: that the government was paying off the local schools to falsify grades for druggies to make them get straight A's. They didn't release me until I stopped believing in this conspiracy and realized that this is the best place to live in America...well, you know the drill. This is a blatant violation of first-amendment rights! Now, at home, it's almost exactly like that...but now, they removed the anti-virus software off of my computer and installed spyware called [product mention] that lets them spy on me to make sure I'm not going to statistics or conspiracy websites. Come on...the anti-virus software has parental controls for that! I know for a fact that it is illegal to use spyware for any purpose, but the government won't do anything about it because they actually fund the creation of this software (and it even says so on [product mention] website!) What good is a government that can't enforce its own rules? I want to live with parents who can actually provide me with a safe home and lead me to success, rather than criminal parents who raise their children in a blantantly unsafe area where they'll go on to be poor, uneducated, and unsuccessful adults.

Re: Please help!
Thanks so much for writing in. It sounds like you’re dealing with a very difficult situation. It must be difficult having all of these emotions and feeling like nobody hears or understands what you are saying. It sounds like perhaps the biggest issue is that you feel you are not getting a proper education and could be going to a better school, in a better area. You mentioned speaking with several people about how you are feeling and not much has come of that. Are there any other options that you have thought about that might help? You said that your parents sent you to a psychiatric hospital at one time. Are you still speaking with a counselor or a doctor at this time? Do you ever talk about your feelings with them, and if so what is there reaction usually?
