I'm 17 with an 8 mo old I have ged can I leave home?

I'm from Iowa and I was wondering if it would be okay to leave my house to live with my boyfriend. Currently he isn't allowed areound me and I'd like to be able to raise our son together. My mother is abusive to my only sister and is always yelling and I feel it is hurtling my son. I want the best for us and I feel living her is not the best. But I fear if I leave my son will be removed from my care because I ran away. Is it okay to leave if it's me having good intentions? I really need help here I'm not 18 till march of 2018 and I feel I can't hold out that long. My son is my main priority I just am stuck on what is legal and if I can get into trouble and if the cops can force me back to my moms house after I already left.
