I'm Moving Out, But I Don't Know What to Do

Typically at 18 you are a legal adult with the right to move out, although it sounds like you aren't sure about where to go. If it's possible, you could talk to your parents and try to figure out the best situation for yourself with their permission (NRS offers a conference call service if you think it would help to have an unbiased third party in the conversation). It might be challenging in the fall if you're still in school next year and you don't have a consistent place to stay, so if you can't establish a plan, maybe now is not the best time to move out. Maybe you have a counselor or other resources at school that could help you figure it out. Hi. I'll be turning 18 soon, which is when I plan to move out of my dad's house. I'll be living with my mom part time, but she refuses to let me live with her full time because I have sisters and she doesn't want to be a factor that splits us up. My friends have offered to let me stay with some of them for very short periods of time, but I don't want to impose. What should I do and how should I prepare? I also worry that there may be some backlash from my family, and I have no relatives in the school district other than my parents.
