Thank you very much for contacting us at the National Runaway Safeline. We’re here to listen and here to help. We are so sorry that you have not had the best relationship with your mom and that you are facing the impending death of your dad. Unfortunately, we are neither employees of CPS nor legal experts. However, we are willing to share with you anything we know that may be helpful.

It sounds like you have been having difficulty with those people who are supposed to be your allies (social workers, police, and CPS workers). Have you considered providing added documentation (pictures, etc.) and getting even more people to call on your behalf? Another thing that could be useful is that you ask to speak with a supervisor from the National Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-422-4453) or at the very least you could try letting them know that you’ve felt that they have been unresponsive to you. As far as your concern about going to jail due to your mom, perhaps you would want to find a legal aid office near you to ask them more about your rights in your current situation. To find legal aid near you, click the website below:

We wish you the best, and invite you to call or chat with us so we can talk more about your situation in depth. Our phone number is 1-800-RUNAWAY (1-800-786-2929).

    Best,

    NRS

When The Mom Starts Playing Victim?

Despite the fact that my mom has been continuously verbally and emotionally abusive towards me, she is trying to say SHE feels harassed by us. She says, "oh after all I've done they treat me so bad". First if all, we don't do anything to her. Second, she only does that to take the blame off of herself. Then she wants to go out all the blame on my dad. She says it's his fault and wants to kill herself because he doesn't do enough for her. All she wants is money and items. That's it. My dad is the only one keeping me going right now, but he's dying. It hurts me that she talks crap about him and us when NO ONE DOES ANYTHING TO HER. *sigh* My question is, how do you get the cops/social workers to believe you when your parent is playing victim? She's done that before when we've called CPS on her, and then she turns back to her same old ways when we come home. I don't like her and her evil ways one bit. What do I do? What if she makes them put ME behind bars?
