Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to us at the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like things are really difficult at home right now. Home should be a place where you feel safe and loved. We are here to help you explore your options. You mentioned that since you are the oldest you get blamed for everything which does not sound fair. It is understandable that you would want to leave a place where you are not being treated fairly. While we are not legal experts we wanted to give you more information about leaving home. You mentioned that you want to go into foster care. This is actually not how foster care works. Foster care is reserved for youth who have no one that is willing to house them. The process usually starts with Child Protective Services removing the guardian’s rights due to either abuse or neglect. After that the CPS agent will try to local housing for the youth and if none of their family or family friends can house them then foster care is the remaining option.
Since you mentioned that you want to know of ways to leave home we want you to know that we do have a database that we can look up resources for you. If you feel like this is something that you can benefit from you are more than welcome to call us and we can see how we can help.
If you would like further help exploring any of these options or others in more detail, please feel free to reach out to us directly by calling us at 1-800- RUNAWAY or chatting with us live on our website at www.1800.runaway.org. We look forward to hearing from you.
Take care,
NRS
