Thank you for reaching out to us. Sorry to hear about what is going on. It must be really difficult to feel like you don’t have a say in where you live. It is great that you seem like such a good influence on your little sister. She is lucky to have you. Would you feel comfortable expressing to whoever is handling the case that you do not feel comfortable returning to the house and you are afraid for your safety? Have you thought about expressing your concerns to anyone else? We aren’t legal experts but we can speak generally. Since you are a minor it may just be seen as you both running away; remember you are still a minor so you may not get arrested as much as the both of you getting returned to the house
(especially if your sister wanted to run as well). Have you tried to talk with her about her concerns about going back? Your mom (or someone else you trust to talk to) may be a good resource to help put you in front of the right people to express your worry. Hi, I'm a 15 year old in the state of Oregon with a 10 year old little sister. Around October last year Child Services got involved to pull me and my sister out of living with our emotionally abusive father's house (where we were part time) Now we are with our mom at her house where she lives with our stepdad. Unfortunately, my dad (whom I haven't seen or spoken to since early October) is contesting the safety issue and there is s chance that we may have to go back to my dads house like before. I am absolutely not ok with me going back and especially not ok with my sister going back. Living there made every day a struggle to go on. I struggled and still struggle with anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. I have a shelter that I could go to but my main concern is if I could be arrested for kidnapping if I took my sister with me. Please help...
