Re: nathan
Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out to us here at the National Runaway Safeline. We are here to help you out the best that we can.
It sounds like you are planning to leave home soon, and you need a place to stay. We are happy to provide you some resources. We are not legal experts here, but generally speaking if you leave home without your guardian’s consent as a minor (someone under the age of 18 in most states), they have the right to make a report. We are not here to tell you what to do, because you know your situation better than we do. We just want to make sure you are safe in whatever you decide to do. It sounds like you are trying to stay safe in getting shelter resources which is good to hear. We want to give you a heads up that if you are a minor, any shelter is going to need to either notify or get consent from guardians for permission for you to stay there.
In Madera, CA, we only have one shelter in our database which is a domestic violence shelter which is Community Action Partnership of Madera County-Victim Services Center at (559) 661 1000. Domestic Violence shelters can be pretty specific in the population they serve, so we want to provide you with other resources that we have close to Madera. We have several shelters in Fresno, CA, that looks like it is relatively close to Madera, CA:
Fresno Rescue Mission (559) 268 0839
Sanctuary and Youth Services-Fresno County Economic Opportunities (800) 820 4968
Fresno/ Madera Youth for Christ (559) 237 4741 *This is a drop in center, so they would not be able to provide you a place to stay overnight, but they may be able to provide more resources as well as food and a place to be during the day.
If you need any other resources or a person to talk to, we are here 24/7 and we are anonymous and confidential at 1800runaway. We have chat available from 4:30pm to 11:30pm CST through our website 1800runaway.org.
Good luck and stay safe,
NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
