Abusive parents

I'm 13 and my parents abuse me a lot. They have done it 3 times in the past month. I want to run away but I'm scared. What should I do???

Thank you for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline. It sounds like home is not a safe place for you. We are glad that you have reached out to us for help. You do not deserve to be in a place where you are not loved or appreciated for you. Again, we think it is awesome that you have reached out and trying to formulate a plan for a safer place to stay.

You mentioned that you parents abuse you. No one deserves to be in an environment where they are being abused or mistreated. You do have a right to file an Abuse Report with your local Child Protective Services. This is something that you can do by calling 1800.422.4453 or your local police department. If you do not feel comfortable calling them yourself, you can always call us at 1800.786.2929 and we can report the abuse for you or with you.

Filing an abuse report is one option you have. Another option you have is to turn to a trusted adult and talk with them about what is going on with you. Turning to those, family, friends, trusted adult, for support during this time is a great place to turn to.
