i think im depressed...

My parents are seperating! they are not getting a divorce but i know that they wont be together ever again. They were always fighting, and now mom told me yesterday they were seperating, they used to always say that but i know mom isnt kidding this time..i really dont want my daddy to leave, but i have to live with my mom, because she would never forgive herself if i lived with dad, me and dad always getting along better then me and mom, but mom has been so nice to try to make this easy on us, but i think im getting depressed. I dont feel like doing anything anymore, and im always crying for no reason, i dont even know why i cry! And to top it all off, we cant even afford ANYTHING! well we can afford food and stuff, but only the basics and stuff, and now with my daddy leaving...we are losing the car, and i dont know what we are going to do about money cuz mom duznt have a job! i feel so bad that i cant help, im only 13 so i cant get a job...but on august 7 im turning 14..can u get a job when your 14?? anyway i hope i didnt waste your time, thank you for reading...

We commend you for giving your situation a lot of thought and writing to share this with us. We imagine this is a hard time for you and want to help support you since you open up to us. Have you thought about speaking to someone or seeing a counselor? Do you have people you can turn to in these struggling times?

We are not experts with age limits to jobs but usually when you are so young, employers tend to expect you to have a work permit and this is something your mother needs to sign off on. You may not be able to work long hours because you are so young and in school but there are jobs you can get with your mother's permission. We respect that you are trying to help out at home and do right by your family. Please keep doing your best and think about ways to stay strong. Can think of ways to stay distracted as your parents figure out this situation? What sort of routine you can provide for yourself as you try to make sense of this all? We hope that you find time to call us and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
