re: Im 13 and I want to run away from home and go back to my old home
Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out tonight and posting here. It sounds like you are going through so much. Moving can be really stressful, especially when you leave your support system. It sounds like you’re feeling really overwhelmed with everything. It’s a lot to deal with. We’re glad that you reached out. So let’s see how we can help you out tonight.
We have a program here called the Home Free program. It’s a family reunification program, so if you ran away to Michigan, then we could see if we could help you get a free ticket back home on Greyhound bus. We don’t know for sure if you qualify for the ticket unless you give us a call at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929). If you called us, we would be able to see if you would be able to get a ticket.
This definitely sounds like a difficult time for you right now. It’s understandable that you’re feeling so overwhelmed. Thinking through how you can get support and who you can depend on can be a good next step to think through your next steps.
We are here to support you through all of this too. So please don’t hesitate to call us 24 hours a day at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or chat with us through our website (www.1800runaway.org) from 4.30pm-11.30pm central time. We are anonymous and confidential.
We look forward to your call or chat.
Good luck to you,
NRSPlease remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.

re: Runaway
Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out and we’re sorry you’re dealing with all of this. It sounds like you have reached us or tried to contact us before and maybe didn’t through or get the help you needed so we’re glad you contacted us again through here. You mentioned that you’ve been going back and forth from parent to parent. That’s got to be really hard and it sounds like it’s been a stressful experience. It also sounds like your dad’s not being sensitive of you expressing how you feel about your current situation and we’re sorry to hear he’s not helping you out and being there for you.
You said that you’ve met your best friend through your boyfriend. Sometimes talking to a trusted friend or someone you’re close to can help to not feel so alone and so that someone else knows what you’re going through. Also, you mentioned a physical fight with your dad. If you feel like you want to report what happened or feel like someone else should know about it you can always file a report and that can be done through a doctor, school counselor or even through us but we would need some identifying information. If you feel like that’s not something you want to do, that’s okay too but just an option to think about.
You also mentioned that you were in the hospital a couple times. That sounds like it was probably pretty stressful. If you were interested in seeing someone like a counselor or therapist again to talk to someone else about what’s been going on we could always refer you to some sort of resource like that.
Again, we’re sorry you’re having to deal with all of this and you can call us if you do decide to file a report or even just to talk at 1800-RUNAWAY 24/7 or chat us from the hours of 4:30-11:30 pm CST.
Best of Luck,
