My parents are forcing a religion on me and I keep pretending to like cause if not they go stricter on me and I don't want that. They don't let me do anything and I'm completely opposite to them and I can't take it. I have a friends house I want to go stay at I just don't know if this is the right choice. No I can't take to them cause they hard headed and closed minded they only care about the religion and that's it

RE: Forcing religion
Hello there,
Thanks for reaching out to us. We are sorry to hear home feels oppressive and closed off to you. It can be difficult to break away from family traditions, religions and ways of thinking without additional support. It can also be very brave to go against the grain. Do you have anyone who is supportive of you? There may be other communities you can find who have been through a similar situation. If you do decide to go to a friend’s house, it is possible they could be in trouble for ‘harboring a runaway’. Is your friend willing to take this risk for you?
Here at the National Runaway Safeline we cannot tell you what you should or should not do. We can however help you offer support and a safe place to stay if you do get kicked out. Feel free to call us at any time and please stay safe! Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
