Hi there,
Thank you for writing to us at the National Runaway Safeline. We’re really glad you did because it sounds like you’ve been going through a rough time, which is causing you to harm yourself. Cutting yourself is especially worrisome. Your happiness, health, and life matter. You also mentioned that you have been dealing with depression. This can be difficult to go through alone. There are some resources we can provide for you. To Write Love On Her Arms, www.twloha.org, is a resource you can start with that can assist you in finding help to deal with your depression and cutting. Another resource that might benefit you is the Self-Injury Hotline. You can look them up at www.selfinjury.com or call their hotline at 1-800- DON’T CUT (1-800-366-828

You also mentioned that your mom is not very supportive during this time. This must be difficult for you not to have her support. It sounds like you have thought a lot about this, you do not want to drop out of school and you want to continue attending your boys and girls club. Running away is a big decision and it is really good that you are thinking ahead. One resource that might be helpful to you is www.nationalsafeplace.org. If you click on your state in the upper right corner, you can see if there is a safe place near to where you live. You might be able to stay there for a few days. If you wanted to call into our hotline at 1-800-RUNAWAY (1-800-786-2929) we could find you a place to stay and talk you through some options . We are here 24 hours a day and are confidential and anonymous. You can also reach out to us through our website (www.1800runaway.org) from 4.30pm-11.30pm Central Time.
We look forward to your call or chat.
Good luck to you,
NRS
