I'm 17 and want to move out WITH my parents permission.

So this isn't your "I'm unhappy can I leave" question. I am actually very happy. The fact of the matter is I need to finish school, and my teacher wont give me the credits I need to become a senior (he got caught staring at my mothers breasts and got called out. Hates me). I can't do computer school at my house, because my mothers husband (my real mom and dad are divorced) needs time at the house to write papers for Rutgers University.

We have looked into emancipation, but it would take up to 4 weeks. My mother (legal guardian) is fine with me moving out to a friends house. My question is could I just move to Michigan with my friend, and parental consent, without worrying about any legal issues.

The reason this is so urgent is because I need to finish school this year. If I cannot move out, then I will have to take two years of school. But if I can, then I can just take a bigger work load online.

I thought you guys would know a lot of the rules concerning these types of things. Thank you for your time.

It sounds like you are in a tricky situation -- you are so close to finishing school, but there are issues in the way that are out of your control. It seems like you've taken initiative to work with what you have, though, which is great.

First of all, we are not trained on the legal aspects of leaving home, so we cannot provide legal advice. However, if you have permission to leave home from your legal guardian (which sounds like you mom in this case), you should be able to stay with the person your mom gives you permission to live with.

You are right about emancipation in that it is not an immediate process. With your guardian's permission, it sounds like you already have a plan in place to finish school timely and successfully.
