  • Leaving

I plan on leaving home very soon. I have it all figured out and I've thought it through more than enough times. I'm kind of excited and have even packed. Is there anything I should know before I leave? Thanks.

    re: leaving

    Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out to the National Runaway Safeline. We are here to help in any way we can.

It sounds like you are very close to making a decision to leave home, and we're glad to hear you've thoroughly thought out your plan to leave. If you talk through your plan with one of us at 1-800-RUNAWAY we can get to know your situation, and make sure your plan will keep you as safe and healthy as possible.

Leaving home can have several consequences, for not only you, but for the people close to you and legally responsible for you as well. How long are you planning to be gone? Who will you be staying with? The answers to questions like these may make you aware of some possible complications with the decision to run away from home without permission from your legal guardian.

We would love to have an open, nonjudgmental, anonymous call if you'd like to use us as a resource to discuss your plan to leave home. You can call us 24 hours a day at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929). We are anonymous and confidential.

    Good luck, and stay safe,

Please remember you can reach us directly by calling our 24 hour hotline, 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or through our Live Chat.
