RE: 17 in 5 months
Hello,
Thanks for reaching out to us for help. It sounds like you are in a tough situation at home and like you are thinking about running away. We might be able to help. Here is a page with a lot of helpful questions you can ask yourself before you leave: http://www.1800runaway.org/Should-I-Run-Away/
You asked about the law. Since you are 16, if you run away you can be reported to the police, who might come looking for you and force you to come home. Running away is not a crime, but there can be consequences. If you stay with someone else, they might be charged with a crime for harboring a runaway. Have you thought through your plan? If you need someone to talk to about it, we are here 24/7 at 1-800-RUNAWAY (786-2929) or every day between 4:30pm and 11:30pm CST on www.1800RUNAWAY.org. We are here to listen and support you in any way that we can.
Best of luck,
NRS
